BUILD THE FOUNDATIONS
Fundamentals
The basics, taught properly. Choose a focus and work on the movement, control and technique behind it.
Start with the skills.
Parents and players can request a Fundamentals focus: footwork and balance, defensive movement, passing, finishing or ball control. We teach the movement first, then add pressure when the player is ready.
What we work on
- Footwork and balance: controlled stops, jump stops, pivots and triple threat
- Defensive movement: slides, close-outs and staying balanced
- Passing: stepping to a target, catching and passing under pressure
- Finishing: lay-up footwork and using either hand
- Ball control: a firm dribble, head up and control with both hands
Who it suits
U12–U18 players building or revisiting their base. Younger or less experienced players begin with light pressure; players ready for more work with live defence and game pace. Group placement considers ability as well as age.
WHAT A TRAINING SESSION LOOKS LIKE
60 minutes. A clear focus.
01
Warm up
Movement and ball work to prepare for the session.
02
Learn & practise
A skill taught in small steps, with feedback and pressure added when ready.
03
Apply it
Coached play or a game that rewards the skill just practised.
04
Take it home
A short review and one focused home task, usually 5–10 minutes.
Training groups are matched by age and ability. School holiday camps have their own two-day format.
Fundamentals. Skills. Execute.
